National Selection Center for Italian Guardian Dogs
Excellence in breeding wolf-sniffing dogs

In the picturesque landscape of the Tortona Hills, a border land and crossroads of ancient pastoral and agricultural cultures, Italy's first Canine Biopark has been created, a unique place where tradition, research, and a modern approach to animal husbandry coexist in perfect harmony. Here, we select wolf guard dogs, ensuring not only the quality of our work but also the psychological and physical well-being of our dogs and the animals they share their spaces with: alpacas, sheep, goats, cattle, donkeys, pigs, and chickens.

Who We Are: A Breeding Farm Like No Other

Our Canine Biopark is a constantly evolving reality, founded in compliance with animal custody regulations but designed to go beyond mere conformity. The welfare of our dogs and other animals is at the heart of every decision. We run an extensive, organic breeding farm, far from intensive models and any form of indiscriminate production. Management is highly professional, based on structured organization, qualified expertise, and genetic lines selected for real working conditions in the field.

Mission and Values

Our work is founded on a clear commitment: to preserve biodiversity linked to Italian working dog breeds, especially those employed as true wolf-guardian dogs. We aim to promote a balanced coexistence between large predators and farms, helping pastoral enterprises reduce conflicts without altering ecosystems. Protecting pastoralism also means safeguarding the rural agri-food chain and its most authentic products, such as traditional cheeses that rely on safe and serene livestock.

A Living Agricultural Museum

Our Canine Biopark is not just a breeding facility but a true living agricultural museum—a place where nature, history, and science interact daily. We have enriched the estate with new plant species, creating a landscape that is both educational and aesthetically valuable, telling the story of Italy’s deep agro-pastoral identity to every visitor.
Water management is achieved through sustainable systems combining natural springs, gravity-fed troughs, and rainwater recovery. All agricultural by-products are valorized: hay becomes bedding, company wood is transformed into walkways and scenic footpaths, offering immersive routes through forests and organic fields.

Over the years, investments in both outdoor facilities, such as paddocks and fences, and indoor spaces, such as kennels and nurseries, have always been consistent with the territory’s landscape identity. Reusable materials and eco-building choices ensure minimal environmental impact. Today, with 40 hectares of forest and cultivated land, the Canine Biopark is a European reference point for the breeding and selection of guardian dogs.

Education, Outreach, and Pastoral Culture

We welcome schools, families, and visitors with the goal of spreading knowledge about pastoral life and the importance of protection dogs. We promote educational projects, thematic meetings, and initiatives aimed at both the public and industry professionals, demonstrating how these dogs work, how they live, and the ideal contexts for their integration. Simultaneously, we collaborate on programs that reintegrate dogs into extra-family working environments, helping them recover their natural aptitudes.

Our Role in Genetic Selection

We are recognized as a National Selection Center for Italian guardian dogs, working with breeds rooted in a millennia-old tradition. The Maremma-Abruzzese Sheepdog is the most iconic figure: a strong, rustic, courageous, and versatile dog that has become an excellent family companion over the years but, thanks to our selection focused on true working lines, retains its guardian vocation intact.
Alongside it, we breed the Sila Sheepdog, a rare Italian canine breed gaining increasing recognition. Majestic, imposing, and particularly dynamic as a guardian dog, it expresses its full potential within the pack. Its coat shares similarities with Calabrian native goats, a unique example of evolutionary and selective convergence from its territory of origin.

A Scientific Approach in the Service of Tradition

Every breeding choice we make is supported by scientific knowledge and updated methodologies. Puppies grow with correct imprinting, following species-specific and co-evolutionary processes that strengthen their bond with the animals they will protect. Socialization occurs in mixed groups designed according to the type of livestock the future dogs will encounter in their work environments. Moreover, the extensive size of the Canine Biopark allows dogs to live freely, avoiding the fixed housing imposed by outdated regulations.

Why Choose Us

We are a unique breeding facility in Italy, with a strong identity and extensive experience in selecting reliable, balanced guardian dogs fully suited to their role. We offer customized solutions for shepherds, breeders, and farms looking to protect livestock naturally, sustainably, and ethically. Each of our puppies represents a gift, carrying with it a story, conscious selection, and careful, responsible management.
